THE GAZETTE VAN DETROIT
Gazette van DetroitThe Gazette van Detroit, established in 1914, is the only Belgian newspaper in America serving the Belgian Communities. The newspaper is a bridge between Belgium and the Flemish United States of America. Its goal is to enhance the social, cultural and Gazette van Detroit staff and familycommercial ties that exist between the two countries. The Gazette is independent and neutral, i.e. not affiliated with any political or religious organizations.

The Gazette provides news from various Belgian social and cultural organizations across the USA, as well as organizations in Belgium that are interested in the historical link between the two countries. It also aims to provide recent immigrants and temporary expatriates with a network of compatriots and relevant information intended to facilitate the transition brought about by a transatlantic move. American and Belgian traditions, cultural events and tourist attractions will be covered.

Bilingual features are offered for the benefit of students of Flemish/Dutch or those readers who are trying to keep up their acquaintance with the language. Created by and for Flemish-speaking Belgians, the Gazette van Detroit family visiting churchGazette aims to maintain a cordial, respectful, and open-minded relationship with French and German speaking compatriots and its Dutch neighbors who share the Flemish language.

The Gazette Van Detroit’s Editor-in-Chief, Elisabeth Khan-Van den Hove, recently visited Chicago with her family, and had an opportunity to meet BACC President, Bart Ryckbosch, and receive a behind the scenes tour of the Art Institute, as well visit the Old Belgian Hall and St. John Berchmans with David Baeckelandt and Howard Fox. Elisabeth and her fine staff invite all lovers of the Belgian culture to get to know this fine newspaper.

Information about subscriptions and advertising can be found on the Gazette’s website, via email at contact@gazettevandetroit.com, or by contacting their offices directly at (586) 777-2720.
